Summary:

Heritage High School and Paloma Valley High School’s Friday Night Live (FNL) Club Advisors have submitted overnight field trip requests for FNL Club students to attend the Active Youth Conference, which is sponsored by Riverside Friday Night Live. This conference will take place at Camp Buckhorn in Idyllwild, California, March 10-12, 2017. The skills taught at these institutes include basic leadership and specific leadership skills that have to do with prevention education in the areas of ATOD (alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs). These skills enable students to facilitate activities and club events under the direction of a staff advisor and a county liaison. The overnight feature of the conference is considered team-building with a “taking it home” component that involves very specific planning for implementing material presented at the conference.
The exercises and program examples that students have participated in over the last few years have helped to make both school’s Safe and Drug-Free program stronger.
Attending from Heritage High School will be 10 students and one adult chaperone; and, from Paloma Valley High School there will be 28 students and 3 adult chaperones.
Cost for attending the FNL conference is $100 per student/adult, which includes lodging and food, and is being funded by the Friday Night Live Club/Associated Student Body funds. Bussing will be provided by the Riverside Friday Night Live group.

The cost for this item is included in the HHS and PVHS 2016-17 operating budgets funded through each respective site ASB/FNL account.
