Summary:
|
Heritage High School’s (HHS) Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Coordinators, Justin Marquis and Sara Huesta, are in the process of planning their third annual Southern California college trip for HHS AVID Sophomores. The dates are February 15-16, 2018. Approximately 40-45 students and 4 adult certificated chaperones will be visiting approximately six college campuses in and around the Los Angeles area.
The purpose of the trip is to be able to visit campuses that are in the Los Angeles area and by staying overnight, there is less time wasted with traffic. The colleges they plan to visit are: University of California Los Angeles, University of Southern California, Pepperdine University, California State University Los Angeles, California State University Channel Islands, and California State University Long Beach. This trip will enable visits of three colleges each of the two days and allows the students to take in the campus and culture in a meaningful way. This trip motivates the students to keep up their grades and stay in the AVID program and is an important part of building the college going culture at Heritage High School.
Transportation will be provided by a charter bus for the two-day trip. The cost to attend this field trip is approximately $125 per person.

The cost for this item is included in the 2017-18 operating budget funded through the Local Control Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration funds.
