Summary:
|
The Perris High School (PHS) principal and staff members are requesting approval to attend the Summit on Professional Learning Communities (PLC) At Work, which will be held in Phoenix, Arizona on February 20-22, 2018. The Summit on PLC At Work is an exciting opportunity for Perris High School staff members to build on their current PLC process that is already in place. PHS is currently experiencing a lag in the PLC process in some areas, so attending this PLC Summit will assist the school staff in building confidence in certain areas of collaboration and growing their expertise in other areas.
The Summit boasts the knowledge of Tim Brown, Rebecca DeFour, Sharroky Hollie, and Douglas Fisher to name a few. These and others can be included in the myriad of articles and research that have been done and presented to stakeholders in professional development over the years. With the current leadership, attending this summit will create opportunities for PHS to further develop their best practices in the classroom, parent engagement efforts that will continue to guide our students in their college and career aspirations and it will help to develop teacher leaders on campus.
Staff members attending the PLC At Work Summit include teachers Heather Avila, Donna Goode, Velma Borrows, Xochitl Almendarez, Noelle Ruiz, Matthew McDonagh, Christine Koford, and administrator/principal Juan Santos.

The cost for this item is included in the 2017-18 operating budget funded through Title I Professional Development.
