Summary:

The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) will be hosting the 2018 Track and Field State Championships on June 1-2, 2018 at Buchanan High School in Clovis, California.
The California Military Institute (CMI) has two potential track and field athletes who may qualify to participate in this prestigious event. Both athletes have already jumped the state “At Large” qualifying distance for these events. The preliminary events will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018, and the finals will be on Saturday, June 2, 2018.
The two athletes participating in the events are: Traveon Lee, CMI Senior, will compete in the Triple jump and Stanley Burks, CMI Junior, will compete in the Long Jump.
David Sibley, California Military Institute Track Coach, is requesting Board approval for the two CMI Track and Field athletes to attend the CIF 2018 Track and Field State Championships, departing on May 31, 2018 and returning on June 3, 2018.
The two male athletes and two coaches will be staying at the Hampton Inn which is located in Clovis, California. Transportation will be provided via a District vehicle. The entry fees, transportation costs, and lodging costs will be paid from CMI LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan) monies.

The cost for this item is funded through the CMI Local Control Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration funds.

It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the overnight field trip request for two California Military Institute Track and Field Athletes and two staff members to attend the 2018 CIF Track and Field State Championships, in Clovis, California, May 31 - June 3, 2018.
