Summary:

Perris High School’s Friday Night Live Club Advisor, Julia Peacock, has submitted an overnight field trip request for approximately 10 of the Perris High School's Friday Night Live Club students and one adult chaperone to attend the Active Youth Conference, which is sponsored by Riverside Friday Night Live. This conference will take place at Camp Buckhorn in Idyllwild, California, March 10-12, 2017. The skills taught at these institutes include basic leadership and specific leadership skills that have to do with prevention education in the areas of ATOD (alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs). These skills enable students to facilitate activities and club events under the direction of a staff advisor and a county liaison. The overnight feature of the conference is considered team-building with a “taking it home” component that involves very specific planning for implementing material presented at the conference.
The exercises and program examples that students have participated in over the last few years have helped to make Perris High School's Safe and Drug-Free program be even stronger, giving the students expanded ideas of what young people are able to accomplish.
Cost for attending the conference is $100 per student and adult, which covers lodging and food, and is being paid for by the Friday Night Live Club/Associated Student Body funds. Bussing is being provided by the Riverside Friday Night Live group.
