Summary:
|
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the District will be offering Distance Learning for at least the first grading period of the 2020-21 school year in an effort to ensure the safety of students and staff. In an effort to better prepare to offer robust distance learning to students, the District has adjusted the school calendar to provide a later start date for students and allow time for additional professional development for staff.
The Perris Secondary Educators Association (PSEA) met with the District and agreed to the proposed modification of the 2020-21 school calendar. The modification means that the District-Wide Professional Development days scheduled for October 15th and 16th, 2020 will move to August 5th and 6th, 2020, making August 7, 2020 the first day of school. October 15th and 16th, 2020 will become student days. Unit members will be provided professional development on August 5th and 6th that addresses practices and procedures (i.e. Teacher web pages, LMS, and classroom learning goals) designed to support high quality distance learning.
