Hemet USD Transportation for CMI - Amendment No. 1.pdf
Summary: The Charter would like to retain the services of the Hemet Unified School District for transportation services for a one-year renewal term from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018. The Board approved the initial year of the contract at the Board Meeting on June 17, 2016.

The Hemet Unified School District currently transports home-to-school in Moreno Valley, as well as for athletic/extracurricular transportation and late activity buses as needed. Prior to July 1, 2016, the Charter had previously utilized these services under the Transportation Agreement between the Hemet Unified School District and the Perris Union High School District. As a separate legal entity, the Charter began its own Agreement beginning with the 2016-17 school year.

Government Code Sections 6500 allows public agencies to jointly exercise any power common to them by agreement without having to form a separate Joint Powers Agency.
Funding: The cost for this item will be included in the 2017-18 operating budget funded through the Charter School, Fund 09.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement for Student Transportation Services between the Hemet Unified School District and the California Military Institute.
