Summary:
|
In accordance with California Education Code 5340, the District has been notified that school district governing board or community college district governing board member elections for two or more districts of any type to be held in the same district or area on the same day shall be consolidated so that a person entitled to vote in both or all of such elections may do so at the same time and in the same place and using the same ballot.
Resolution 40:17-18 - Order of Election is attached. It contains the specifications of the election order and request for consolidation. Upon adoption of the resolution, a copy will be submitted to the Riverside County Superintendent of Schools and the Riverside County Registrar of Voters.
An election calendar for the governing board member election of November 6, 2018, has been prepared by the Riverside County Registrar of Voters. Selected dates from the calendar are as follows:
June 29, 2018: (130 days prior to election) Deadline for County Superintendent of Schools to notify governing boards, in writing, regarding the compulsory consolidation of school district elections.
July 6, 2018: (123 days prior to election) Last date for District governing boards to submit the Order of Election Resolution with Specifications concurrently to the County Superintendent of Schools and the Registrar of Voters.
July 16, 2018: (113 days prior to election) Earliest date for filing Declaration of Candidacy for governing board member.
August 10, 2018: (88 days prior to election): Final date for filing of Declaration of Candidacy for governing board member.
NOVEMBER 6, 2018: ELECTION DAY
December 7, 2018: (1st Friday in December following the election) Beginning of term of office for newly elected board members. Oath of office must be executed prior to taking office.
