Summary:
|
Renee Garcia, Associated Student Body (ASB) Advisor at Heritage High School, is submitting an overnight field trip request for forty (40) of Heritage High School's Student Council Members and four (4) chaperones to attend the California Association of Student Leaders (CASL) State Conference in Ontario, California, March 28-30, 2020. This is in conjunction with the California Association of Directors of Activities (CADA) conference for the Advisors of Associated Student Body clubs.
The mission of CASL is to provide a statewide network that facilitates the development of ethical, responsible, and servant leaders. CASL’s initiative is to inspire, equip, and empower students to be effective future leaders of the world. They have invited ASB student leaders to the state conference for three (3) days of inspiration, networking, and learning many ways to lead their campus in a positive direction. Students will hear from world-renowned speakers, choose from a wide variety of over twenty-five (25) effective workshops, attend special program rotations and regional meetings, “Meet the Pro’s” and create their own special State Service Project to pay it forward and give back.
The students excitedly look forward to the opportunity to participate in the CADA/CASL conference where they will learn leadership skills, how to run a successful student government, and how to run successful fundraisers. They will also have the opportunity to network with other students from throughout the state who share their interest in student government. Mrs. Garcia will gain a wealth of information for herself and her students. The students attending are ASB Council Members.
The cost is approximately $395 per student and $475 per teacher. Transportation will be provided by a District van.

The cost for this item is included in the 2019-20 operating budget funded through Heritage High School's Associated Student Body Account, not the General Fund.
