Summary: The Board of Trustees previously approved, and the District has undertaken, the facilities project known as the “Perris High School Phase 2B Project,” which consists of the construction of a new single story kitchen, student union, culinary arts, and classroom building.

During its April 20, 2016 meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the contract with Southcoast Acoustical Interiors in the amount of $218,225, for the provision of work associated with acoustical ceilings and insulation in the Perris High School Phase 2B Project. Due to a change in the as-built conditions of the ceilings in Phase 2B, Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $43,317.34 is necessary in order to reconfigure the layout of the suspended ceiling structure in the classroom areas of the Phase 2B. Change Order No. 1 for Southcoast Acoustical Interiors is based on a comprehensive review of the existing conditions and the required change to the plans by the District's Director of Facilities, WLC Architects and Neff Construction. The cost of this change is to be included in Change Order No. 1 for Southcoast Acoustical Interiors in the amount of $43,317.34. This change order will increase Southcoast Acoustical Interiors contract to $261,542.34.

The ratification of Change Order No. 1 with Southcoast Acoustical Interiors is necessary in order to meet critical project timelines and negate undue delay of the project. Ratification of this change order is permitted for Board approved facilities projects pursuant to Purchasing Policy.

Education Codes 17604 and 17605: The Governing Board delegates the power to contract and purchase supplies, equipment and services.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the 2017-18 operating budget funded through the Facilities Fund, Fund 21.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve Change Order No. 1 for the Perris High School Phase 2B Project with Southcoast Acoustical Interiors.
