Summary: Over the past four years, District Administration has advocated for more professional development opportunities for our Classified and Confidential staff. As part of this support, Cabinet has determined that participation and membership within the two organizations that support the office professional, Riverside County Association of Educational Professionals (RCAEOP) and the California Association of Educational Office Professionals (CAEOP), are opportunities for professional growth and development. As a result, the Executive Assistant and the Administrative Assistants, within the District, have taken on leadership roles with the District Secretaries by providing professional development workshops at the quarterly District Secretary Meetings.

Many of our secretarial leaders have taken on responsibilities and roles in the two organizations (RCAEOP and CAEOP). Beth Heyden is the current Treasurer for the California Association of Educational Office Professionals (CAEOP) with her term going through March 31, 2018. Taking on the role of Treasurer of a state organization has had many challenges and Mrs. Heyden has done a remarkable job in her first year. As the Treasurer, it is CAEOP’s expectation that the person(s) be able to attend all Executive Board meetings as well as various affiliate meetings in other counties within California.

By attending the National Association of Educational Office Professionals (NAEOP) annual conference in July, Beth will have the opportunity to participate in a number of workshops, institutes and briefings. Attending this conference will allow her to network and learn from other state AEOP Treasurer’s to better understand the policies and procedures that are required for her state position. She will also bring back a wealth of information to share with district secretaries and the local affiliate members. Mrs. Heyden truly appreciates the support and investment that District Administration has placed in them and other office professionals in the District. This year’s conference is being held in Greenville, South Carolina, July 11-16, 2017.

At the CAEOP conference in March 2017, Mrs. Heyden was awarded her Professional Incentive Program (PIP) certification from the California Association. Mrs. Heyden is currently working working towards her National Professional Standards Program (PSP) certification, and attaining the distinction of a Certified Educational Office Employee (CEOE). The PSP and CEOE achievements are recognized and awarded only through the National Association of Educational Office Professionals.
