Summary: The District has been asked to participate in the Computer Science Education Week KickOff event in Seattle, Washington on December 3, 2018. The District will join with other districts around the country to commit or recommit to offering at least one high-quality computer science (CS) course at every comprehensive high school in our District. Currently, the District offers at least two high-quality CS courses and in some cases three or more courses. Mark Synnott, Coordinator of Educational Services, will be serving as our representative at this event.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the 2018-19 operating budget funded through Title I, not the General Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the out-of-state conference request for Mark Synnott, Coordinator of Educational Services, to attend the Computer Science Education Week 2018 KickOff in Seattle, Washington on December 3, 2018.
