Summary:
|
Last year, Dr. Greg Wise, Assistant Principal, Perris High School, conducted doctoral research seeking to better understand the relationship between the beliefs and practices of educational leaders, and the experiences of English learners (EL) in public schools. This was a qualitative multiple case study involving Perris High School, Heritage High School, and Paloma Valley High School. Following the defense and publication of this dissertation research, the study was also submitted to the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA) for consideration at their 2017 annual convention in Denver, Colorado, on November 15-19, 2017.
The reason for going to the UCEA conference is that his research focused specifically on site level leadership practices in the District and the relationship they have with EL students. His goal in presenting this research at UCEA is to share the findings of this research with other educators and to learn best practices in regard to educational leadership and English learners that can be brought back to the District to make our practices even more effective at serving the needs of our EL students.
Dr. Wise’s study was ultimately accepted and he has been invited to present his research at the UCEA conference in Denver, Colorado next month.
