Summary:
|
Direct Certification (DC) is the federally mandated process that School Nutrition Program (SNP) sponsors must use to certify school-age recipients of CalFresh (formerly Food Stamps) and CalWORKs benefits as eligible for free school meals without further application. More students may be fed nutritious meals when Direct Certification is used. To maximize the benefits of using direct certification, the County of Riverside Department of Public Services has agreed to directly provide a data match of children who are in households with CalFresh and CalWorks to the District for meal eligibility purposes only.
Determining students through direct certification will increase the District’s level of participation in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs for free and reduced-priced meals.
