Summary:
|
Heritage High School’s (HHS) Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Coordinator, Amanda Bates, is in the process of planning their fourth annual Southern California college trip for AVID Sophomores. The dates are March 21-22, 2019. Approximately 44 students and 4 adult certificated chaperones will be visiting approximately seven college campuses in and around the Los Angeles area.
The purpose of the trip is to be able to visit campuses that are in the Los Angeles area and by staying overnight, there is less time wasted with traffic. The colleges they plan to visit are: University of California Los Angeles, University of Southern California, Pepperdine University, California State University Los Angeles, Cal Lutheran, California State University Channel Islands, and Cal Poly Pomona. This trip will enable visits of three colleges on day one and four colleges on day two and allows the students to take in the campus and culture in a meaningful way. This trip motivates the students to keep up their grades and stay in the AVID program and is an important part of building the college going culture at Heritage High School.
Transportation will be provided by a charter bus for the two-day trip at the cost of approximately $2,633.50, which will be paid for via the Local Control Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration funds. The cost to attend this field trip is approximately $100 per person which will be paid by the AVID Associated Student Body fund, and student fundraising.

The cost for this item is included in the 2018-19 operating budget funded through Local Control Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration (LCAP) fund, Heritage High School's Associated Student Body AVID fund, and Student Fundraising, not the General Fund.
