Summary:
|
The District currently provides services to approximately 1,150 students who have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Although the District offers most services to students, we do not offer all services to students. The District contracts annually with the Riverside County Superintendent of Schools through the Riverside County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) for visual impairment services, deaf and hard of hearing services, orthopedic impairment services, intensive behavior intervention services, and services for students with extreme intellectual disabilities. The Riverside County Superintendent of Schools has extensive services for students with these disabilities and continues to do an excellent job of servicing our students.
This Modification No. 1 to the contract from Riverside County Superintendent of Schools outlines that there will be additional charges at a specified daily rate for any of these services that are required for the extended school year. The contract also states the the Riverside County Superintendent of Schools will provide a facility and equipment for medical therapy units. The District does not anticipate utilizing either service.
The stated term and estimated cost for the Agreement remain the same as the original Agreement.
This Agreement is being taken to the Board as a ratification due to the untimely receipt of the contract from the Riverside County Superintendent of Schools.
Pursuant to California Education Code C 56195.1(e), a SELPA member LEA may contract with another SELPA member LEA for special education programs/services.

The cost for this item is included in the 2017-18 operating budget funded through Special Education, Fund 06.
