Summary:

Perris High School’s Agriculture teacher Douglas Cousins, is requesting Board approval for the Perris High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) students to attend the California State FFA Career Technical Education finals that will be held at Cal Poly University, in San Luis Obispo, California, May 3-6, 2018.
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is the host to over 20 different FFA Career Development Events at the end of each school year that challenges students in the areas of their interest. Students compete for state titles during a variety of contests at this event. Students will also have the opportunity to tour one of the best agriculture colleges in the country and see multiple programs in agriculture.
The judging finals event will be the culmination of a year of hard work competing throughout Southern California at numerous events against other FFA Chapters. In the event that Perris High School FFA wins first place at the state championship, they would then be eligible to travel to the 2017 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
This is an overnight field trip of 3 nights, with 25 students, and 4 adult chaperones. Transportation will be provided via District/Site agriculture vehicles.

The cost for this item is included in the 2017-18 operating budget funded through the Perkins monies, Title I and the Agriculture ASB account.
