Summary:
|
The District would like to contract with Corwin Press, Incorporated for professional development services in order to build capacity among site teachers and administration in Literacy Development. These workshops will aim at closing the literacy achievement gap in order to increase student literacy skills in all academic areas. Through her area of expertise in Common Core Implementation, Qualitative Factors That Affect Text Complexity, The Role of Coaching in Instructional Improvement, Close Reading, and Writing From Sources, Dr. Nancy Frey will provide professional development to school sites and also district leadership teams who will craft their own instructional plans to develop effective practices to support increasing literacy across the District.
Education Codes 17604 and 17605: The Governing Board delegates the power to contract and purchase supplies, equipment and services.
