John D. Kirkland (LTC) R, JROTC Senior Army Instructor at Perris High School (PHS) requests permission for thirty-six (36) cadets and five (5) chaperones, including PHS Principal Juan Santos, teachers Alexander Saucedo and Flavio Espinosa, and two (2) volunteers cleared by the District's Human Resources office, to travel to Molena, Georgia, October 31 - November 4, 2019 for the JROTC Army National Raider Competition.
Raider Competitions are athletic competitions held at JROTC programs around the world. Events take place outdoors and usually consist of individual strength tests (pushups, tire-drag, obstacle course, etc.), the distance team running events, first aid events, and some form of Rope Bridge construction/crossing. Individual events may vary. The championship event takes place at Gerald Lawhorn Boy Scout Camp in Molena, Georgia.
The purpose of this competition is to give high school JROTC students the opportunity to master outdoor skills and to learn leadership in a competitive team setting. The United States Army Cadet Command will provide lodging and transportation to the students at no cost.
