Summary: Perris High School’s (PHS) JROTC’s Instructor, Lieutenant Colonel John Kirkland, U.S. Army has submitted a request to have forty (40) PHS JROTC cadets participate in the 17th Annual JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge Camp in Fort Irwin, California, March 20-24, 2020.

The purpose of this encampment is to give JROTC students the opportunity to master outdoor skills and to learn leadership in small group settings, curriculum related training in small group settings, as well as curriculum related training that would qualify cadets for ribbons and awards. Forty (40) cadets and five (5) chaperones from Perris High School will be participating in this annual leadership camp.

Lodging, transportation and meals will be provided by the United States Army Cadet Command at no cost to the students. Lodging will be in military style barracks and transportation will be via contracted civilian buses.
Funding: No fiscal impact.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the overnight field trip request for Perris High School's JROTC cadets to attend the 17th Annual JROTC Cadet Leadership Camp in Fort Irwin, California, March 20-24, 2020.
