Summary: District Administration has advocated for more professional development opportunities for our Classified and Confidential staff. As part of this support, Cabinet has maintained that participation and membership within the two organizations that support the office professional, Riverside County Association of Educational Professionals (RCAEOP) and the California Association of Educational Office Professionals (CAEOP), are opportunities for professional growth and development.

Many of our secretarial leaders have also taken on responsibilities and roles in the two organizations (RCAEOP and CAEOP). Currently the roles on the CAEOP state board held by these four ladies is as follows: Lori Ortell, President; Christine Harris, Immediate Past President; Beth Heyden, Treasurer; and Sarah Rico, Recording Secretary.

Attending the 2018 National Association of Educational Office Professionals (NAEOP) 2018 annual conference in Bloomington, Minnesota, on July 16-20, 2018, will provide opportunities to participate in a number of workshops, institutes and briefings, and will represent the State of California at the Advisory Council and the Southwest Area Business Meeting. NAEOP's national conference is one of the best professional development conferences available to the educational office professional. Attending this conference will allow them to network and learn from other state AEOP officers to better understand the policies and procedures that are required for their similar state positions. The ladies will also bring back a wealth of information to share with District secretaries and the local affiliate members. The desired outcome after attending is for the four women to share as much of what they learn with the other District secretaries at their quarterly meetings. The ladies feel if they can give just a "taste" of that awesomeness to our secretaries then they have made a difference.

NAEOP also offers a nationally recognized certificate program, the National Professional Standards Program (PSP), and the option of attaining the distinction as a Certified Educational Office Employee (CEOE). The PSP and CEOE achievements are recognized and awarded only through the National Association of Educational Office Professionals. Both Lori Ortell and Christine Harris have attained both their PSP and CEOE distinction. Beth Heyden and Sarah Rico are currently pursuing their certifications, and hope to attain and be recognized for such at the 2018 NAEOP conference in July.

Mrs. Ortell, Mrs. Harris, Mrs. Heyden and Mrs. Rico truly appreciate the support and investment that District Administration has placed in them and other office professionals in the District.
