Brenda Dizon-Harris has submitted an out-of-state conference request to attend the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Summit 2017, October 22-25, 2017, in Orlando, Florida. Ms. Dizon-Harris has also submitted a workshop proposal and was accepted to be one of the presenters for PLTW Summit 2017.
Brenda Dizon-Harris’ proposal is on Design Thinking from S.T.E.M. to S.T.E.A.M. and feels that she can directly impact the other PLTW Summit 2017 attendees as well as highlight Pinacate Middle School as a leader in a S.T.E.M. classroom. The PLTW Summit 2017 also offers networking opportunities and sessions that are directly applicable to her ongoing work.
She is seeking the Board’s approval to cover the registration fee and travel expenses, including hotel accommodations and meals. As a workshop session facilitator the total registration expense for the PLTW Summit 2017 is reduced by 50 percent, which is an incredible value considering the comprehensive array of opportunities. The total estimated cost is $2,200, which would be funded through Title I - Professional Development.
PLTW Summit presents an opportunity for Brenda to enhance her skills in the classroom while strengthening contacts in the S.T.E.M field. Her attendance at this conference will be a professional investment in developing streamlined practices, real-world solutions and a network of peers to call upon.
