Summary:
|
The Perris Union High School District has entered into an Agreement with Mt. San Jacinto Community College District (MSJC) to provide English as a Second Language (ESL) courses through the District's Adult Education Program. MSJC’s ESL course will provide students with communicative and competency based instruction. The program takes a learner-centered approach that targets instruction to identified student needs, goals, and interests. Students develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills as they achieve life skills and personal development competencies. Students will practice listening and speaking skills in English necessary to achieve literacy fluency. The District will provide MSJC space to conduct the classes at the Pathways for Adult Life Skills (PALS) location on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00am to 12:00pm. All expenses of conducting the program will be borne by MSJC.
The term of this Agreement shall be from January 29, 2019 through May 21, 2019.
This Agreement is being brought before the board as a ratification due to the need to begin classes prior to the board meeting.
Education Code 17604 and 17605: The Governing Board delegates the power to contract and purchase supplies, equipment and services.
