Summary: In November 2016 California’s voters approved Proposition 51 which authorized $9 billion in the sale of general obligation bonds for projects within the State’s School Facilities Program. Included within this authorization is a reservation of $500 million for Career Technical Education projects. PUHSD was successful in the past in obtaining CTEFP funds for the planning, design and construction of the Agricultural Resource Center (ARC) at Heritage High School. On August 23, 2017 the State Allocation Board approved guidelines and timelines for the next round of funding for the Career Technical Education Facilities Program (CTEFP). Grant applications for funding from this program must to be filed with the California Department of Education and Office of Public School Construction by November 29, 2017.

The District has developed two (2) applications for this round of CTEFP funding, each to support the agriculture program at Perris High School which currently serves 873 students.

The first is an application for the Perris Agricultural Center for Excellence (PACE) classroom and laboratory building. This is a 2-story building that will house four science classrooms, each pair of classrooms flanking shared laboratories. Also included is a multi-use collaboration and research laboratory, a floral shop, an upstairs horticulture terrace, and a leadership collaboration room.

The second is an application for an agricultural mechanics building. This will include shop space to allow for metal and wood fabrication, small and diesel engine repair and maintenance, as well as related classroom space and welding booths.
Funding: No fiscal impact
