Summary: Dian Martin, Director of Learning Support Services; Julie Zierold, Director of Curriculum Instruction; Mark Synnott, Coordinator of Educational Services; Cheri Adame, Heritage High School Counselor; Esperanza Solis, Paloma Valley High School Counselor; and Joanna Dorado, Perris High School Counselor, would like to attend the Association for Career and Technical Education’s (ACTE) CareerTech VISION 2017 National Conference from December 6-9, 2017 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Last year, VISION 2016 featured more than 300 presentations on key career and technical education (CTE) topics, such as career cluster pathways, model CTE programs and schools, and Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to name a few. This year, VISION 2017 will feature sessions that will be directly applicable to the work of the college career counselors.

The ACTE conference includes in-depth training sessions, demonstrations of the latest technologies and asset management for our institution and classroom, and hands-on workshops. VISION 2017 will also provide networking opportunities with thousands of CTE peers. It's a great opportunity for the attendees to gain first-hand insights on creating and sustaining quality CTE programs from breakout sessions, keynote speakers, exhibitors, and one-on-one meetings with numerous ACTE leaders and CTE subject-matter experts.

VISION 2017 presents an opportunity for staff to enhance their skills while strengthening contacts at local, regional and national levels in the CTE field. Their attendance at this conference will be a professional investment, which will support streamlined practices, real-world solutions, and a network of peers to call upon.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the 2017-18 operating budget funded through Title 1 Professional Development funding, not the General Fund.
