Summary:
|
The Career Technical Education (CTE) Program with the Riverside County Superintendent of Schools offers career preparation training to high school students who are residents of Riverside County. CTE currently offers training in multiple career areas based upon current and future labor market demands. Programs are limited to training in those occupations where there is a reasonable expectation of employment and where there is sufficient student interest and need. CTE training is given in classrooms equipped to industry standards. Classes are a combination of classroom instruction and on-the-job training taught by CTE instructors in the industry who are credentialed by the State of California to teach in their areas of expertise. Credit is given to high school students through their home high school. Some CTE courses offer the opportunity for advanced placement and/or credit at local community colleges.
The Riverside County Office of Education will provide various Career Technical Education (CTE) classes at the three (3) comprehensive high schools within the Perris Union High School District.
This Agreement covers the following ten (10) Career Technical Education instructors at a cost of $110,114.00 including salary and benefits per teacher. Total dollar amount of Agreement shall be $1,125,140.00.

2) Law Enforcement Instructor (Heritage High School)
3) Auto Instructor (Paloma Valley High School)
4) Digital Image Instructor (Paloma Valley High School)
5) Marketing Instructor (Paloma Valley High School)
6) Sports Therapy Instructor (Paloma Valley High School)
7) Auto Instructor (Perris High School)
8) Culinary Instructor (Perris High School)
9) TV/Video Instructor (Perris High School)
10) Construction Instructor (Perris Lake High School)
The term of the initial Agreement, including Modification No. 1, is from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2020. Modification No. 2 to Agreement IN-40035 is to provide an additional instructor and to increase the amount of the Agreement to accommodate for the added instructor. This Modification is being taken to the Board as a ratification due to the untimely receipt from the Riverside County Superintendent of Schools.

The cost for this item is included in the 2019-20 operating budget funded through the Local Control Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration Funds, not the General Fund.

It is recommended that the Board of Trustees ratify Modification No. 2 to Agreement IN-40035 between Riverside County Superintendent of Schools and Perris Union High School District for Career Technical Education Services.
