Summary:
|
The Perris Union High School District would like to contract with Instructure for the purchase of the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Canvas LMS is a comprehensive, fully featured, cloud-based platform that has interoperability with third-party tools. The adoption of a new LMS was a regular topic of the Educational Committee (ETC) which in turn created a teacher-led focus group. The focus group recommendations were shared at ETC and the committee agreed to recommend that the District explore contract options with Instructure.
Canvas LMS will be a replacement of another LMS with a similar cost that has already been budgeted.
The cost for year 1 is $45,752.38 with subsequent years at $62,790 for a total of $171,332.38 for the 3-year term. The Instructure contract has two optional 1-year renewals which would bring the total contract amount to $296,912.38 if all 5 years are utilized.
The costs will be split between the District and the California Military Institute (CMI) based off of projected enrollment percentages for each school year. The total cost for the District will be $268,512.07. The total cost for CMI will be $28,400.31 which will be billed as a direct cost to CMI per the Memorandum of Understanding between the District and CMI.
