Summary: The District would like to continue the Memorandum of Understanding with the Riverside County Superintendent of Schools for site operations of the Come Back Kids program for the 2017-18 school year. The program operated at The Academy for the last three school years to assist the District with its high school-age students who have dropped out of school, fifth (5th) year seniors, and dropouts in the community (through age 23). Come Back Kids offers prevention and intervention services to students who wish to re-enroll in an educational program. Students are offered an opportunity to make up credits, find classes they need, and get special training. Students receive the opportunity to complete high school graduation requirements, prepare for the High School Equivalency Exam, earn high school and college credits, attend English as a Second Language, and enroll in workforce development. The Riverside County Superintendent of Schools will provide a credentialed instructor with the proper teaching credentials and experience for the program at no cost to the District.

The term of this Agreement will be for one year from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018. There is no cost to the District.

Education Code 17604 and 17605: The Governing Board delegates the power to contract and purchase supplies, equipment, and services.
Funding: There is no fiscal impact to this item.
