Summary: The Heritage High School (HHS) Future Farmers of America (FFA) will be represented at the 2017 National Future Farmers of America Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, October 23-31, 2017 by approximately ten FFA (student) members. These ten members are actually graduates of HHS. Therefore, they will be finding their own transportation and funding for such. HHS FFA would like to send two agricultural instructors, Mr. Jeremiah Perotti and Ms. Maggie Maratsos, to attend alongside the student FFA members as they represent the California FFA.

HHS is honored to announce that all of the teams finished in the top 10 at the state competition and has qualified for Nationals.
This is a very prestigious accomplishment, not only is this the second time in the history of the HHS FFA that they have a state champion going to Nationals, but they actually have two state champions. Along with the two state champions, there are eight American Degree recipients who are all graduates of HHS and are still HHS FFA members.

While at the FFA National Convention, in addition to the voting sessions, FFA members gather to listen to some of the best motivational speakers in the country, honor one another's accomplishments during award ceremonies, and recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to the organization. FFA members leave each session with a renewed commitment to premier leadership, personal growth and career success.

Mr. Perotti and Ms. Maratsos would travel with the California FFA and state FFA students and staff to National Convention for a week at the end of October. California FFA has a trip package deal that makes it easy for all those attending.

The California Association of Future Farmers of America, has approved group travel packages with a variety of benefits for the trip participants, including round-trip airfare, lodging, ground transportation to and from the airport in Indiana, and reduced conference registration fees. Funding for the two teachers to attend is being provided by HHS’s Perkins Grant monies.
Funding: The cost of this item is funded through HHS’s Title I, Perkins Grant Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the out-of-state conference attendance request for Jeremiah Perotti and Maggie Maratsos, Heritage High School Agriculture Future Farmers of America Advisors, to attend the 2017 National Future Farmers of America Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, on October 23-31, 2017.
