Summary: On October 8, Governor Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 1666, a bill that requires the California Complete Count – Census 2020 office to partner with local educational agencies to make information about the 2020 Census available to students and parents. Although AB 1666 does not contain any specific requirements for local education agencies to disseminate this information, California School Boards Association (CSBA) supported the bill in recognition of the importance of counting every Californian in the Census. As such, CSBA has recommended a resolution be adopted by local school districts, ensuring a complete count of students, families and communities in Census 2020.
