Summary:
|
The District and Mt. San Jacinto Community College District (MSJCCD) wish to provide a summer concurrent guidance class at Heritage High School (GUID 100 College Success Section #3500).
This comprehensive course integrates personal growth, academic and career success with problem solving, critical and creative thinking. The course focuses on the following topics: life management, goal setting, career decision making, educational planning, college expectations and opportunities, instructor-student relationships, cultural diversity, health maintenance, stress management, campus resources, learning styles, and strategies including lecture note-taking, test taking, and concentration.
Students will be able to evaluate learning styles and apply them toward their lifelong learning by completing three (3) projects. Students will formulate test taking strategies for both objective and essay exams by creating test questions that use specific key words. They will create an educational plan for transfer to the CSU, UC, or private/independent schools for a specific major. The students will summarize three personal strategies for mastering college.
The District will provide the facility for the classes and MSJCCD’s Continuing Education Department will conduct the classes.
The term of this Agreement will be June 18, 2018 through July 26, 2018.
This Agreement is being taken to the Board as a ratification due to the untimely receipt of the contract from the Mt. San Jacinto Community College District.
Education Code 17604 and 17605: The Governing Board delegates the power to contract and purchase supplies, equipment and services.
