Summary:
|
Education Code Section 41422 allows the State Superintendent of Public Instruction (SSPI) to grant normal apportionment credit to districts in emergencies in instances when one or more schools must be closed because of "extraordinary conditions." School districts may submit Form J13A, Request for Allowance of Attendance Due to Emergency Conditions, to the California Department of Education (CDE) to receive ADA credit and instructional time credit for the day(s) and minutes lost to the emergency closure. The District is seeking to obtain approval for credit of attendance and instructional minutes lost on Friday, September 6, 2019 as a result of the Tenaja Fire and unhealthy air conditions that occurred throughout the day and into the evening of Thursday, September 5, 2019 and Friday, September 6, 2019 impacting air quality conditions for our students and staff.

No fiscal impact. Upon approval from the California Department of Education, the District would remain revenue neutral.

Recommendation:

It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve Form J-13A, "Request for Allowance of Attendance Due to Emergency Conditions", as a result of the Tenaja Fire and unhealthy air conditions throughout Riverside County.
