Summary:
|
The RTM Education/CIO Congress and RTM Higher Education CIO Congress in partnership with the RTM K-12 National Advisory Board, is a private, invitation-only forum that features 70 national District Leaders. The RTM Education Congress is made up of Superintendents, Chief Academic Officers, Associate/Assistant Superintendents and Technology Directors that are accountable for Educational Technology, Professional Development, Curriculum and Instruction, and Assessment. The participants of the Education Congress have the exclusive opportunity to network and mindshare with their peers, and address some of the most critical issues and challenges facing the K-12 community today. The RTM Education/CIO Congress meetings also tri-locate Curriculum, Technology, and Facilities/School Planning. The District is in a unique position to contribute to the conversation as Curriculum, Technology, and Facilities in the district regularly collaborate to ensure that the needs of instructional programs are met. The RTM Higher Education CIO Congress meeting is August 6-8, 2017 in Washington, DC and the RTM Education/CIO Congress meeting is planned for October 8-10, 2017 in Orlando, Florida. Two subsequent meetings will be scheduled throughout the 2017-18 school year.

It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the out-of-state conference request for Grant Bennett, Superintendent; Candace Reines, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services; Joseph Williams, Executive Director of Technology; and Hector Gonzalez, Director of Facilities to continue their participation and attend the RTM Education/CIO Congress and RTM Higher Education CIO Congress during the 2017-18 school year.
