Hemet USD Amendment 4 - CMI 2020-21 Agmt.pdf
Summary: The California Military Institute (CMI) contracts with Hemet Unified School District (HUSD) for transportation services. HUSD Transportation provides home to school transportation for CMI students residing in Moreno Valley, as well as for athletic/extracurricular transportation and late activity buses as needed. The Board approved the initial Agreement at the Board Meeting on June 17, 2016 with a term of July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017. The Agreement included up to four (4) additional one (1) year terms, however, CMI would have been required to let HUSD Transportation know of their intent not to extend by December 31st of the preceding year. Therefore, while CMI is starting the 2020-21 school year in a digital learning model, an additional renewal term is required. Amendment No. 4 for the term of July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021, will be the fourth of the four (4) additional one (1) year terms. Home to school transportation will be a fixed cost of $338,345.00 whereas activity buses will be billed at a rate of $77.66 per hour and late buses at $196.97 per day.

This item is being brought forth as a ratification due to the initial uncertainty of school re-opening and overlooking renewal during the initial phase of contract renewals in Purchasing.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the 2020-21 operating budget funded through the Charter School Fund, not the General Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees ratify Amendment No. 4 to the Agreement for student transportation services between Hemet Unified School District and the California Military Institute.
