Summary: The Perris Union High School District's Nutrition Services Division is a member of the Super Co-Op for USDA Foods and their commercial equivalents. As a member of the Super Co-Op, the District participated in the Request of Proposal with the Santa Clarita Valley School Food Services Agency in awarding Gold Star Foods for Processed USDA Foods Products and Commercial Equivalents (Market Basket) for Super Co-Op Members. Proposals were only received from responsive and responsible vendors that were interested in providing distribution services for processed USDA foods and commercial food products (frozen and grocery) for the 2017-18 school year.

Dates of publications for the Request for Proposals were March 29, 2017 and April 5, 2017, the submission deadline was May 5, 2017. The bid was approved by the Santa Clarita Valley School Board on May 16, 2017.

Nutrition Services is requesting the approval of the Contract for RFP No.1704 Distribution of Processed USDA Foods and Commercial Food Products for Super Co-Op Member Districts, as awarded to Gold Star Foods.

Minimum contract term is one (1) year starting July 1, 2017. Quoted prices must stay in effect for one (1) year after award of bid and may be extended upon mutual consent of District and vendor for an additional two (2) one year periods in accordance with provisions contained in the California Education Code, Sections 17596 (K-12)

This contract was bid and is being recommended for award pursuant to Public Contract Code 20111.
Funding: The cost of this item will be included in the 2017-18 operating funded through Nutrition Services, Fund 13.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the contract for the purchase of USDA Foods and Commercial Food Products, as awarded to Gold Star Foods, the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
