Summary: The Perris Union High School District would like to enter into an agreement with Gears 2 Robots for the purpose of providing math and science teachers the opportunity for professional development on the integration of robotics into their content areas. Math and science teachers will learn how to build relevancy in their classes by having their students practice applying mathematical ways of thinking, the ability to apply mathematics to novel situations, and to have the opportunity for linking classroom mathematics and statistics to everyday life, work and decision-making through the integration of robotics.

Students will learn how to design, build, and program robots, as well as apply real-world math and science concepts, develop problem-solving organization, and team building skills.

The Consultant will provide the following:

*Perris High School, Paloma Valley High School, Heritage High School and Pinacate Middle School:
*Professional development two (2) times per week for thirty-two (32) weeks
*End-of-year event competition
*192 Mentoring Hours

The term of this agreement will be from September 21, 2017 through June 30, 2018 at a total cost not to exceed $40,160.

Education Code 17604 and 17605: The Governing Board delegates the power to contract and purchase supplies, equipment, and services.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the 2017-18 operating budget funded through the Local Control Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration funds.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the Agreement for Professional Consultant Services with Gears 2 Robots to provide professional development and mentoring services.
