Summary: The District's Educational Services Department has made recommendations for updates in our district-wide course catalog. When a course is discovered to be outdated or lack sufficient information, then a request is sent to the teacher(s) to update the course. At this time we are submitting revised Spanish for Spanish Speakers I and II courses.

Spanish for Spanish Speakers I and II have been revised to allow students in grades seven through twelve to participate in these courses. Allowing these courses of instruction to be available to grades seven and eight will offer the students a greater chance at achieving the State Seal of Biliteracy and being prepared in the College & Career Indicators upon graduation. Students will have had to demonstrate proficiency in speaking, reading and writing in another language other than English to meet these requirements, as well as completing a four-year high school course of study in a foreign language. This opportunity will set the students up to achieve both the Seal of Biliteracy and allow opportunities to take Advanced Placement courses in earlier grade levels.

The above courses have been approved by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services.
