Enclosure
File Attachment:
Summary: On March 6, 2016, the California Military Institute (CMI) and the California Military Institute Teacher Association (CMITA) reached a Tentative Agreement (TA). Based on that Agreement, administration is recommending approval of the same salary increase for the California Military Institute classified employees.

The TA with CMITA provides for an ongoing salary schedule increase of 1 percent effective July 1, 2016 which the administration is recommending also be applied to CMI classified employees. The TA also provides for a 4 percent increase to the instructor salary schedule for the addition of 15 minutes to the instructional work day beginning May 1, 2017, however just as this does not apply to counselors, Teachers on Special Assignment (TOSA) and other unit members within CMITA, it would also not apply to classified employees whose workday would not be increasing.

Administration is also recommending approval for the same increase to the contribution towards premiums for health and welfare benefits as was provided to CMITA. Effective July 1, 2016, this would increase the cap from $11,200 to $12,200 for two-party coverage and from $13,200 to $15,200 for family coverage. Single coverage would remain at $9,200.
Funding: The cost is included in the 2016-17 budget.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the salary increase and the health and welfare cap increase for the California Military Institute classified employees as presented.
