Summary:
|
Heritage High School’s (HHS) Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Coordinator, Amanda Bates, is in the process of planning for the annual Northern California college trip for HHS AVID Juniors. The dates are January 27 – January 31, 2019. Approximately 44 students and 4 adult certificated chaperones will be visiting 15 college campuses over the 5-day trip. The list of colleges/universities is as follows: UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, CSU Monterey Bay, UC Santa Cruz, Stanford, San Francisco State, Sonoma State, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, Sacramento State, San Jose State, Chico State, UC Merced, CSU Fresno, and CSU East Bay.
The purpose of the trip is to introduce different campuses to the students. The students have participated in day trips to Southern California campuses, but many students wish to attend colleges further away from home such as in Northern California. This trip motivates the students to keep up their grades and stay in the AVID program. This trip is an important part of building the college going culture at Heritage High School
Transportation will be provided by a charter bus at the cost of approximately $7,126.25, which will be paid for via the Local Control Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration (LCAP) funds. The cost for students to attend this field trip is approximately $250 per person and will be paid for by the AVID Associated Student Body account and student fundraising.

The cost for this item is included in the 2018-19 operating budget funded through Local Control Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration funds, the AVID Associated Student Body (ASB) account and by student fundraising.
