Summary: The mission of Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Achievement (MESA) Program is to enrich the pre-college math and science environment, and stimulate greater student interest in math, science and engineering. Participation in the MESA Program is being requested by Paloma Valley High School. The MESA Program seeks to enroll a diverse group of students reflective of the school’s diversity and balanced by the enrichment and support needs of prospective participants. All prospective participants must demonstrate a commitment to preparing for college and provide a fully executed Parent Authorization Form. The Regents of the University of California will pay the District a modest stipend of up to $800 for participating in MESA events, trainings and meetings. The MESA Advisor’s participation in MESA trainings and meetings is essential to effective implementation of MESA services and events. The stipend amount, dependent on the funding allocation and availability for the year, will be prorated based on attendance at trainings, meetings and participation in MESA events. In addition, classroom supplies will also be provided in the amount of $500. The amount is contingent on teaching a dedicated section that will use the MESA curriculum. Lastly, the District will be responsible to provide two (2) days of substitute coverage for MESA field trips.

The term of this Agreement shall be from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020.
Funding: The budget will be adjusted to reflect this revenue.
