File Attachment:
Summary: At the June 20th meeting of the Board of Trustees, direction was given to form and initiate the High School #4 Naming Advisory Committee. Included in that direction were parameters to be used in seeking public input; it was agreed that provisions within Board Policy 7310 would be refined to direct naming suggestions for High School #4 to focus upon either geographical or historical references - naming suggestions that referenced persons were to not be considered for the naming of the school but may be considered at a later date for the naming of site-specific buildings and/or facilities.

The Naming Advisory Committee was formed and included:

• Monica Campos (HHS Student)
• Marizel Carin (PVHS Student)
• Ulises Delrosario (PHS Student)
• Randy Freeman (MUSD Board)
• Kim Friberg (PSEA Representative)
• Eric Kroencke (City of Menifee)
• Joshua Naggar (City of Perris)
• David Nelissen (PUHSD Board)
• Helen Stimach (CSEA Representative)
• Ron Ulibarri (MUSD Board)
• Bill Zimmerman (Menifee Valley Historical Association)
• Grant Bennett (Superintendent)

The Naming Advisory Committee met on July 16, August 13 and August 23. Extensive efforts were utilized for community involvement in the provision of naming suggestions. These efforts resulted in the submission of 305 suggestions; 46 suggestions were not considered as they did not meet the naming criteria. The Committee carefully considered 259 suggestions. Careful analysis, discussion, and voting within the Committee membership resulted in their desire to present three rank-ordered recommendations for the Board’s consideration in the naming of High School #4:

- Menifee High School (65 votes by Committee members)
- Menifee Hills High School (55 votes by Committee members)
- Liberty High School (44 votes by Committee members)

Dr. Fred Good assisted with the formation of the Naming Advisory Committee and the conduction of the Naming Advisory Committee activities. Along with providing additional comments regarding the naming process that was utilized, he would like to provide an opportunity for the Board to meet Naming Advisory Committee members who are present this evening.
Funding: There is no fiscal impact to this item.
