Summary: Education Code 60119 requires that on/or before the eighth week after the first day pupils attend school that year, the Governing Board hold a Public Hearing and adopt a resolution in order to be eligible to receive funds for the Pupil Textbook and Instructional Materials Compliance for Fiscal Year 2018-19. After the Public Hearing is opened, the Board will receive public comment and close the Public Hearing before taking final action on this item.

Attached is the California Military Institute's (CMI) Resolution No. 01:18-19 – Pupil Textbook and Instructional Materials Compliance for Fiscal Year 2018-19 , which declares that the California Military Institute Board of Trustees has complied with the requirements of Education Code Section 60119, in that sufficient textbooks and instructional materials were provided to each student, including English learners, that are aligned to the academic content standards and consistent with the cycles and content of the curriculum frameworks in the following subjects: mathematics, science, history-social science and English/language arts. Additionally, sufficient textbooks and instructional materials were provided to each student enrolled in foreign language or health classes; and, laboratory science equipment was available for science laboratory classes in grades 9-12.

Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees hold a Public Hearing to receive comments from the general public regarding the 2018-19 Pupil Textbook and Instructional Materials Compliance.
