Summary:
|
Step Up to Writing trainers will work with all Pinacate Middle School teachers to strengthen implementation of the Common Core State Standards by developing a school–wide approach to evidence-based writing through Step Up to Writing.
Their training will include:
An Overview of Writing Strategies
1. Training core content department teams using Step Up to Writing in their respective content area.
2. Review and integrate standards for writing in the instructional process.
3. Develop a site wide school instructional model.
Each teacher trained will receive a Step Up to Writing Teacher’s Edition textbook and an online account. The teacher’s edition textbook addresses all levels of writing ability through a wide variety of strategies. The textbook also guides teachers and students through the writing process for many types of writing from writing paragraphs for sustained research projects. The online account provides teachers with 100’s of digital resources, including further training videos, graphic organizers, and handouts.

The cost for this item is included in the 2018-19 operating budget funded through Title I Funds, not the General Fund.
