Summary: The College Board Forum is the preeminent annual gathering of K–12, higher education, and college access professionals from all areas of expertise. The Forum offers a wealth of sessions and workshops led by experienced colleagues that focus on finding solutions to today’s most pressing education issues.

The Prepárate: Educating Latinos for the Future of America conference is a part of the College Board's commitment to educational excellence and equity for all students. The College Board and its members are focused on building an educated citizenry prepared to participate in American democracy, society, and economy, and Latino students’ success is crucial to this goal.

The importance of serving the nation’s growing Latino student population is paramount given that the academic success of these students is crucial to achieving this goal and ensuring an integrated, competitive society. Prepárate is an unparalleled opportunity to discuss issues affecting the education of Latino students now and in the future.

Rationale for attending this College Board Forum include:

*Improving the College Readiness for Latino students
*Connecting Latino students to Scholarships
*Offering resources to support students; socially, emotionally, and academically
*Creating strategies to increase Latino College applications

The total cost to attend the College Board Forum 2019, Prepárate: Educating Latinos for the Future of America, for the four attendees is approximately $8,006.13.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the 2018-19 operating budget funded through Title III, not the General Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the out-of-state conference request for Julie Zierold, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Cheri Adame, Counselor at Heritage High School, Joanna Dorado, Counselor at Perris High School and Esperanza Solis, Counselor at Paloma Valley High School to Attend the College Board 2019 Prepárate: Educating Latinos for the Future of America Conference in San Antonio, Texas, April 7-10, 2019.
