Summary:
|
One of the eight State priorities of the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) is to increase parent involvement and communication. The Perris Union High School District (PUHSD) and the California Military Institute (CMI) have been using BlackBoard Connect for communicating with parents by phone, email, and text messaging regarding emergency notifications, student attendance, various school activities, and announcements. As part of a suite, BlackBoard offers ParentLink.
ParentLink is a mass notification system that provides a powerful communication platform with a full range of options to meet the changing needs of our District. ParentLink provides an easy-to-use tool that gets information to parents and the community when needed for emergencies, custom messages, language translation, and surveys. ParentLink also provides a modern, well integrated parent and community communication suite that includes a district/school-to-home telephone notification system, smartphone apps, and social media connections. The smartphone app delivers district/school news, notices, events, attendance information in district-wide consistent fashion, and allows parents of secondary students to view assignments, grades, and other performance data.
The term of the renewal Agreement will be from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019. The total cost of $33,774.98 including tax is comprised of 10,385 user licenses. There are 9,379 District user licenses for a total of $30,505.48 including tax. There are 1,006 CMI user licenses for a total of $3,269.50 including tax. Blackboard will send separate invoices for PUHSD and CMI.
Education Code 17604 and 17605: The Governing Board delegates the power to contract and purchase supplies, equipment, and services.
