Debbie Georgianna, English Teacher and Yearbook Advisor at Perris High School, is requesting that the Board of Trustees approve her attendance at the Jostens Adviser University, to be held in Scottsdale, Arizona, July 16-19, 2017.
Jostens Adviser University (JAU) is a high-energy professional development opportunity designed for educators who serve as advisors to yearbooks, newspapers, and magazines. Jostens Adviser University is in its eighth year and is enhancing their popular curriculum for high school advisors by adding several courses developed specifically for integrated journalism classrooms and those concerned about Common Core and 21st Century skills.
This conference is designed to help teachers focus on adviser strategy and methodology. Jostens Adviser University is geared to all levels of advisors, from beginning to advanced. JAU allows attendees to explore issues and ask questions that are specific to their needs. The classes are hand-selected by attendees so that learning can be customized to needs.
Mrs. Georgiana has been the Perris High School Newspaper Advisor for 15 years (with previous experience in newspaper advertising of ten years). This will be her fifth year as Yearbook Advisor. Mrs. Georgianna is eager to expand her knowledge and expertise in producing a high quality yearbook for the Perris High students.
