Summary: One of the eight (8) State priorities of the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) is to increase parent involvement and communication. The Perris Union High School District (PUHSD) and the California Military Institute (CMI) have been using BlackBoard Connect for communicating with parents by phone, email, and text messages regarding emergency notifications, student attendance, various school activities, and announcements.

The term of the Agreement renewal shall be from July 1, 2020, through June 30, 2021. The total cost of $18,392.62 (plus applicable taxes) is comprised of 10,608 user licenses. There are 9,578 PUHSD user licenses for a total of $16,606.76. There are 1,030 CMI user licenses for a total of $1,785.86. Blackboard, Inc. will send separate invoices for PUHSD and CMI.

This item is being brought forth as a ratification due to budget uncertainties that existed as a result of the State Budget not having been signed by the Governor until June 29, 2020.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the 2020-21 operating budget funded through the Local Control Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration Funds and the Charter School Fund, not the General Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees ratify the Agreement renewal with Blackboard, Incorporated for Blackboard Connect software and services.
