Summary:

Perris High School’s Agriculture Advisor, Douglas Cousins, is requesting approval for the Perris High School (PHS) Future Farmers of America (FFA) students to attend the California State FFA Judging Finals which will be held at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California, May 2-5, 2018.
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo will be hosting over 20 different FFA Career Development Events at the end of the school year which challenges students in areas that interest them. Students compete for state titles during these events. The contests that the students will be competing in are: Ornamental Horticulture judging; Vegetable Crop judging; the Best Informed Greenhand contest; Farm Records; Livestock judging; and, Veterinary Science judging. Students will also have the opportunity to tour one of the best agriculture colleges in the country and see multiple programs in agriculture.
The judging finals event will be the culmination of a year of hard work competing throughout Southern California at numerous events against other FFA Chapters. In the event that any Perris High School FFA student takes first place in the State Championship, they would then be eligible to go onto the National FFA Convention in October which will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana.
This is an overnight field trip of two nights. Approximately 25 students and 4 adult chaperones will be attending. Transportation will be provided by District vehicles.

The cost for this item is included in the 2018-19 operating budget funded through Perris High School's FFA Associated Student Body (ASB) account and the Perris High School Perkins Grant.
