Summary:

Joseph Alo, Senior Military Instructor, has submitted a request to have the California Military Institute cadets participate in the ROTC/JROTC Physical Training Championships that will be held at Chemeketa Community College located in Salem, Oregon, on March 14-18, 2019. The intent of this program is to empower each ROTC/JROTC program with a qualified team of cadets to perform physical challenges necessary to compete as a team.
Sixteen cadets and four adults will be driving up in district vans to the championships. The cadets and adults will be stopping in Red Bluff for the night and arriving in Salem, Oregon on Friday, March 15th, where they will be staying in free lodging at the American Legion in Salem. On Saturday they will head to the Brooks Regional Training Center for the Physical Training Championships being held at Chemeketa Community College, in Salem, Oregon. Cadets will compete in the following events as a team: push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, 300 yard dash, and a two-mile run. After the day’s festivities, the cadets will be treated to a complimentary Yellow Ribbon dinner.
On Sunday, March 16, the group will head back on the road, stopping in Red Bluff for the night and arriving at CMI on Monday, March 17th at approximately 7:00 p.m.
This is the 3rd Annual Physical Training Championships and the second time that CMI has been invited to participate.
