Summary:
|
It has been determined that through cooperative efforts, the best library services can be provided to communities throughout Riverside County. A need for library facilities and services continues to exist in the Romoland/Menifee area. The current Joint Use Agreement between the County of Riverside Library Division and the Perris Union High School District is expiring at the end of this fiscal year on June 30, 2017. Therefore, staff is recommending a new Agreement for the continued joint use of facilities at Heritage High School for use by the County of Riverside Library Division.
The initial two-year term of this Agreement shall be from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2019. The Agreement may be renewed annually upon mutual consent expressed in writing by the District and County for up to three (3) additional one (1) year terms.
The District will charge the County $52,082.88 per year for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years to cover the cost for the facility and personnel. This Agreement reflects current costs to the District. Each subsequent renewal term will be adjusted as necessary to reflect any increase in costs to the District.
Education Code 17050 provides that a district may enter into a contract with the county, or other appropriate entity having responsibility for the provision of public library services, in which the district is located for the purpose of operating a joint-use library facility at a school site owned by the district.
